Topic/Thesis Statement
My main interest revolves around anti-human trafficking organizations and I have chosen
an organization that is prevalent in Connecticut called Love 146. This organization aims to end
child trafficking and exploitation and has done a large amount of work within this goal. Love 146
offers prevention programs to youth that help protect themselves from exploitation, provide
survivor care in the US, UK, and the Phillipines, and engages numerous communities throughout
the US. I plan to focus mainly on their community engagement and explore the process that it
entails. Looking through their website it shows that they partner with businesses, legislators,
service providers, caregivers, social media users, and anti-trafficking collaborators.
Currently Love 146 has a group of volunteers and paid workers within Connecticut that
assist survivors living in this area. The group seems active as well. I reached out to the volunteer
group to join their newsletter and hope to attend any future events that may be held. Anti-human
trafficking has become a large topic since the news of Jeffrey Epstein and multiple influential
individuals within society have been part of a large and still vastly unknown child trafficking ring.
During COVID as well there has been particular concern with vulnerability of youth and the
dangers of the internet. This is a complex topic, and I hope that I will be able to learn more about
ways that are beneficial to tackling this intensive issue by exploring a successful and engaging
organization such as Love 146.
