Description of Assignment: This project focuses on the analysis of financial statements for a publicly traded company of your choice. This project will enable you to use what you have learned throughout the course to assess the overall viability and financial performance of an organization.
Requirements of this project are to select a publicly traded company of your choice and obtain their most current and prior year annual financial reports. You will need the prior year’s annual report for comparative purposes. The project instructions will guide you through a series of steps for identifying sections of the annual report including the Basic Financial Statements, Management Discussion and Analysis, and the Note Disclosers. Using the financial information within the annual report you will perform horizontal/vertical analysis and calculate a series of financial ratios, which will highlight the organization’s liquidity, solvency, profitability, and potential market prospects. While we have learned types of analysis all throughout the course. Using your analysis, you will make a decision as to whether to invest or not into the company under consideration. In addition to performing various analysis, you will provide a 1-page written summary of your rationale supporting your decision.
