Topic: Americans tend to remember World War Il as the “good war” in which we fought for a good cause, used honorable means, protected the
freedom of Americans and brought freedom to foreign nations. Evaluate the accuracy of this public memory. What parts of the war does this
“good war” memory ignore? Is it a true or false memory?
Requirements: Your paper must be between 1000 and 1500 words in length and double spaced using Times New Roman 12 point font. You must have a cover page that
includes: a title for your paper, your name, the date and the course information (AHIS 101). You do not need a bibliography page, but you must have footnotes throughout your
paper. A footnote is necessary when you quote a source directly and use quotation marks. A footnote is also necessary when you summarize information that would not be
readily known by the average person on the street. A footnote should also be used if you are referencing specific dates or numbers that would not be commonly known, for
example the statement, 200 Indians died at Wounded Knee, would require a footnote. Your footnotes should be in the format set out by the Chicago Manual of Style. The
proper format for a book IS:
1. Firstname Lastname, Title of Book (Place of publication: Publisher, Year of publication), page number.
Example: Harper Lee, To Kill A Mockingbird (New York: J.B. Lippincott, 1960). 32.
You should be able to craft the bulk of your paper using your textbook and the documents from class. It is also REQUIRED that you include at
least two references (footnotes) from the interviews from the Library of Congress’ Veteran’s History Project. Three of these interviews have
been uploaded to BlackBoard for you to choose from. If you would prefer you can also look for and use any other Veteran from the project found
