Define a question about aging that interests you. Make sure that your question includes the identification of a specific group under study (e.g. older African Americans, deaf or hard of hearing individuals) and a particular aspect of aging (for example housing, finances, volunteering, transportation). Find 3 scholarly articles that address your question. Review University’s Identifying Academic Sources if you are not sure if a source is academic. Submit a descriptive annotated bibliography using APA style, This University page, How to Write an Annotated Bibliography, provides you with information about the information that is necessary for a descriptive annotation.

First Paper# 1

Aging & Society (3 pages)

For this assignment, select one of those articles and explain the theoretical perspectives and the methods that the authors used for each study. Make sure that you discuss the following:
What was the theoretical foundation for the study? Specifically, did the author use a functionalist, conflict, interactive or behavioral/developmental perspective for the research?
Did the authors use a quantitative or qualitative approach to the question?
Did the authors use a probability or non-probability sampling design?
Did the authors use a cross-sectional or longitudinal sampling design? If it was longitudinal, what type of study was it (cohort, panel, trend)?
Make sure that you cite your article in APA style and add the link to the article.

Second paper #2 (4 pages)

Explore a specific aspect of abuse and neglect. You may focus on a specific  segment of the older population (e.g. people who live in the community with their adult children or people who live in assisted living) or a specific issue (e.g. self-neglect, financial abuse by family members, the need for tighter regulations in assisted living).
Your essay, should provide information on the topic and identify why it is important. What are the key issues? What are potential solutions for those issues? Use a minimum of three academic sources in your research. Your essay should be approximately 1250 words, double-spaced, 12 point font. Remember to use in-text citations and list your references in APA style.

How extensive are the services and programs that are available to the elderly in your area? Begin this assessment by identifying an agency that coordinates publicly funded aging services in your area. They should be able to provide you with significant information and resources. You can also use your local library, media, internet services and the brochures and other informational material that agencies distribute as references. Feel free to contact agencies directly to ask any questions that you might have.
Compile this information and summarize it in a report. Your report should include the following information:
Describe the demographics of the community
Evaluate the availability of aging services in the community
Describe the agencies that serve the aged in your community
Identify any gaps of service that you have observed
Do you have recommendations for improvement of services?
