You will use the information from the text and Interactive Modules. Use content and formats that are age appropriate for the audience and literacy abilities. Discussion #1:
You are working in a pediatric clinic. You have noticed that many families leave the immunization brochures behind when they leave. Consider that your population consisted of immigrant families and low-income families. The practice uses commercial brochures. Use content and formats that are age appropriate for the audience and literacy abilities. In your discussion cover the rationales used for your content, application of health literacy principles, and Public health nurse’s Competencies for health education (see Quad Council resource). In addition, the parents are given the Vaccine Information Sheets from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
AND
Compose a 1-page information sheet that includes indication for the vaccination (pick one), when the child receives, potential side effects (most common), and when to call the pediatric practice. Do this in English. The practice will obtain official translations into Spanish and Vietnamese for use.
