I struggle with Depression, Dyslexia, ADHD, and Anxiety. As a child, I got into trouble at school for being hyper. My parents suspected I was more than a troubled kid and took me to a specialist to get tested. The test confirmed that I had ADHD and Dyslexia. I’ve learned to cope with medication, but my battle isn’t over. What I do to prevent suicidal thoughts is spend time with loved ones and do things I enjoy: books, movies, composing, etc. These may appear to be minor details, but they contribute to my development as a confident human being.
I have been called a freak, because a normal person feels happy seeing sunshine and kids laughing whereas I feel like “why is the sun shining so brightly, why it fails to light my world like everyone else? Why do I compare those kids’ smiles with mine? When did I lose my smile?” My whole world changed drastically after experiencing the trauma of being sexually assaulted by my boyfriend at the time, during COVID-19. This pandemic hit everyone differently, but for me, it was like a scissor cutting away at the limited threads of sanity I had left in me. After the pandemic, when this world returned to its original state, everything returned to how it was before, but I failed to return to my old life, I was trapped in the darkness with no way out. No matter how hard I tried I couldn’t connect with others, fearing they would see the pathetic side of me that can taint their bright future. But with the help of my friends and loved ones, I can finally start to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
