Summary & Response Essay on pages 1-45 of your textbook A- THE SUMMARY presents the main and supporting ideas of a text in a way that reduces these statements down to just the bare minimum. Summaries do not focus on the individual details of a text.
B- Summaries focus on the overall, broader ideas being described within a text.
C- WHEN YOU WRITE YOUR SUMMARY, MAKE SURE THAT EACH OF YOUR BODY PARAGRAPHS TALKS ABOUT ONE SPECIFIC IDEA ONLY.
D- TAKE THE IDEA FROM THE ASSIGNED READING BUT WRITE IT IN YOUR OWN WORDS. USE QUOTATION(S) FROM THE TEXT TO SUPPORT WHAT YOU WRITE. IN YOUR RESPONSE, INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
1- What new ideas did you learn from the reading? Dedicate one paragraph for each new idea you learned and explain the idea and how it is new to you.
2- What ideas did the reading confirm in your mind? Dedicate one paragraph for each confirmed idea you had and explain this idea.
3- What new vocabulary words you learned from the readings.
4- Your concluding paragraph will focus on what you want the readers to know about your experience from reading the sources for this essay.
5- Identify parts of the text that you found difficult to understand.
6- Identify parts of the text that you found enjoyable and useful to you and explain why!
