Assignment Overview

The purpose of this required peer review assignment is to perform basic R code practice and use lubridate package in R Notebook.

This is a required activity for this module. The activity is peer reviewed. So after you submit your response, you need to review and evaluate other peers’ submissions.

Assignment Overview:

Perform the following tasks and submit the notebook in .html format for peer review.

Step-by-step Instructions:

Perform all following tasks using an R notebook.

1. Create a new markdown file by selecting either R Notebook or R Markdown from the dropdown menu in the top, left-hand corner of RStudio. Please name it using the following convention: mod3_peer_review_your first name_your last name.RMD.
2. Add a heading in the notebook to mention the course name, “Introduction to Business Analytics with R.” (5%)
3. Use a code chunk to create a datetime object d from the following character string that represents May 8, 2020: “05/08/2020”. Only use base R. Do not use functions from the lubridate package. (15 %)
4. Use a new code chunk to check the data type of the d object by printing it. If it is in a date format, then it will show up as “2020-05-08”. (5 %)
5. If necessary, install the lubridate package using the Package pane in RStudio. In a new code chunk, load the lubridate package. (5 %)
6. In a new code chunk, use the appropriate functions from the lubridate package to extract the year, month number, week number and weekday number from the object d created above. Save them as objects name d_year, d_month, d_week, and d_day Include code to display each of the four objects. (30 %)
7. Use a new code chunk to create another datetime object, d_25, using the object d, where d_25 is the date 25 days from now. Include code to display d_25.(15 %)
8. Finally, use a new code chunk to calculate and display the difference between d and d_25 using the difftime function and check whether the difference is 25 days. (10%)
9. For steps 3 through 8, please add some text before each code chunk to explain the purpose of the code chunk as briefly as possible. Please do not use more than three sentences for each explanation. (15%)
10. Knit the .rmd notebook file to an HTML file and submit the HTML file for peer review. Name the HTML file as mod3_peer_review_your first name_your last name.html.

How to Knit .Rmd to .html

1. In RStudio, click on the drop-down menu next to Preview button.
2. In the drop-down menu, select “Knit to HTML“.

How to submit:

Click on the Submission tab and submit the .html file for peer review.

You are required to evaluate the submissions of at least THREE of your peers based on the instructions and rubric provided. You may begin giving feedback to other learners as soon as you submit your assignment; click the Review classmates tab to begin. Feel free to provide additional reviews beyond the required number of reviews.

• Both content and organization are important components of a response. Good writing is confident and clearly focused with relevant details to enrich the content. Good writing also follows instructions, such as word limits, and offers requested information.
• A clear and concise answer is preferable to a long response that lacks coherence.
• Focus should be on content; try not to unduly penalize responses for spelling or grammar.

How to Use Peer Review

1. Submit your own assignment. Click the My submission tab to begin working on your own assignment. You can save drafts of your work as you go, and you can come back later to continue working on your draft. When you are finished working, click the Preview button, verify your identity, and then Submit the assignment.
2. Give feedback to your peers. You are required to give feedback to at least three peers to complete this assignment. You can begin giving feedback to other students as soon as you submit your assignment. Click the Review peers tab to get started. Feel free to provide additional reviews beyond the four required!
3. Read feedback from your peers. Your peers will also begin reviewing your project as soon as you submit it. You will receive an email notification of each new review. Only you will be able to see the feedback you receive. If you find someone’s review helpful, click the This review is helpful button to thank the reviewer.
4. Browse other projects. You can browse through all of the submitted assignments, even if you don’t plan to review each one. Click the like button if you think someone did a great job on their assignment.
