Service Learning Reflection Essay

The culminating assignment for this course will be completing a Service Learning Reflection Essay, summarizing your service-learning experience for the semester. You have completed a variety of reflections and assignments related to your service learning project over the course of the semester. This assignment should still be a thorough and thoughtful culminating reflection that incorporates those prior responses as well, but with more elaboration for this particular assignment. Please follow instructions below. Your essay will be graded on a thorough and thoughtful response to the questions below. You can reference the rubric to ensure that you are throughly responding to the prompt and instructions. Please also reference the rubric below this post for more detailed guidance.
Instructions:
Paper should be 6-8 pages, double spaced.
Describe in detail the agency/organization, its purpose and the programs/services offered.
Describe in detail the “Mission Statement”.
If available include an agency organization chart. Describe the leadership team (what is their background, education/work experience and how long they have been with the agency).
Describe the population(s) served at the agency.
Describe the principal intervention(s) employed with the organization.
How are these interventions implemented?
Describe the primary values of the agency. How do/don’t they parallel the NASW values?
Describe the “diversity” of the staff and clients served. Does the agency/staff meet the diversity needs of the clients?
Describe how cultural humility is reflected at the agency?
Examine your role as a learner at the agency. What was your role? How would you rate your performance? How did you contribute to the agency and its efforts? Why did you choose this specific agency?
Evaluate, from your point of view, the impact of the organization on its defined populations at risk. Do you believe it has been successful in providing services to its clients? Why or why not? What criteria did you use to inform your assessment?
