Guidelines for Primate Project – Spring 2021
I. A project write-up pertaining observation of living primate behavior is required
for this class. The following is intended to answer some of the questions you may
have regarding my expectations for this project.
II. Instructions:
• Watch either of the two videos that I have selected for you emphasizing
primate social behaviors and then answer the accompanying questions, in full
sentences (NOT BULLET STATEMENTS) as completely as possible.
III. Deadline:
• You may submit this assignment as late as the end of the evening on
Tuesday, May 10.
IV. Format:
• You will submit your write up/answers to the questions in pdf format
through a Turnitin link. Your work must be your own. Be aware that the
Turnitin link will cross-check your submissions against other students’
submissions and will highlight any copied work.
Work submitted via email, not through the Turnitin link, or past the
deadline will not be accepted.

• Complete the following questions – plan on a minimum of 1 paragraph per
question
o Describe the featured primate using complete taxonomic classification
o Describe the geographic region featured: continent, country, ecological
zone, resources.
o Describe the social structure of the primates featured, the dominance
hierarchy, the diet.
o Describe examples of audible communication, facial expressions, and
locomotive patterns of primates depicted.
o Describe threats to the primates within their habitat and strategies by the
primates or researchers to address these threats.
