I. Research paper prompt: Students shall choose a potential discipline, or field of interest, to
study after high school. Students will then research their chosen discipline, or field of interest, as
well as potential institutions to attend in order to earn a degree or certification in their chosen
discipline or field of interest. Students should include these topics when researching their chosen
discipline or field of interest: position requirements, salary range and benefits, education
requirements, cost of education, and career satisfaction. After choosing their field of interest and
completing their research of their chosen field, students shall then compose a 4-5 page research
paper in which they present their findings. Students must meet the minimum page requirement
and incorporate no fewer than four primary and/or secondary sources within the essay in order to
submit the assignment for evaluation.
II. Sources: Students must properly quote and cite no fewer than four secondary or primary
sources within their essay. Secondary sources must originate from reputable institutions or
databases. Any electronic source not collected through Gale, JSTOR, EBSCO, Google Scholar,
or not exhibiting an .EDU or .GOV domain name must receive permission from the instructor
prior to usage.
III. MLA Style: The research paper must adhere to and exhibit MLA style parenthetical
documentation and formatting throughout the entire essay, including the Works Cited page.
