Feb 5 I turned 25. This is my 5th birthday far away from my family. 9th birthday without my grandfather and 1st birthday without receiving a call from my aunt (RIP). I can’t express enough of my feelings of how hard it is to be on my own. I have met so many people in the past few years. I have learned a lot. Since the day I landed here. Every day I am becoming a stronger person. I don’t think I would have ever been in a better place than where I am without my family’s support, my two roommates, my few close friends and my school’s support.
We all have ups and downs. I am still facing so many challenges in my daily life like any normal person.
In the Middle East they don’t teach you how you have to respect yourself. How to not care about others when you only should care about yourself. You don’t have to like your other cousins or your family’s friends. You don’t have to compare yourself with anyone. Each person grows up in a different way. You have to love yourself and do what makes you happy. sometimes you’re right, sometimes you are wrong, at least you are being yourself not pretending. We all make mistakes. We learn from mistakes but we will still make mistakes, As long as you are trying not to hurt anybody.
On my 25th I reached this point and I am being myself. I am grateful for my positive energy and what I have. Proud of myself with my small steps I progress every day.
So be happy where you are and never stop working on yourself. Fight on your mental health and keep trying. You will be where we want to be so never ever give up.
