Check your state’s penal code for strict liability crimes. Describe the similarities between the different strict liability crimes in your state. Explain why each of these strict liability crimes do not require the mental intent necessary for true crimes. Discuss the cultural reasoning for strict liability crimes.
A homeless person is charged with murder in the killing of another homeless man. The defendant admits hitting the victim with a blunt object, but plans to offer evidence he was drunk when the acts occurred. Is that evidence relevant in the case?
