Summary

The objective of the term project is to train students to think independently to develop a project report based on industrial problems and practices. Student should gather knowledge from this

course and find a problem related to industrial an application such as industrial production, inventory control, aggregate planning, MRP, lean/JIT and scheduling/planning to develop a

project. After defining the problem, a student should collect information about the related problem and the corresponding solution approaches. Student then apply this knowledge about

the tools and techniques to solve the problem (originally chosen by the student), and develop a project report by the end of the semester. The course project is worth a total of 20 points or 20% of the overall grade.

·All submissions required for term project or research paper must be in Word format.

·Term project / research paper are submitted by a group of one or two person(s).

·Student’s names shown as the last name, first name, MI should appear in the cover page.

The value of each component of the project is:

Summary of a relevant Production and Inventory Control topic (from referenced journal articles or conference proceedings papers); examples of typical topics are shown on Canvas. (10 points)
A simple math model related to the summary article. (5 points)
Relevant mathematical analysis for the project. (5 points)
A project proposal can be a four to five page summary of a published (referenced journal or conference proceedings) paper. The math model can be inside the summary article or kept as an appendix.

You have a lot of discretion on the project topic. As an alternative, the project can be also a summary of new ideas, a project you recently engaged, or a project that you want to continue.

Students may choose to complete his/her project (also proposal) individually, or in a group of two students.
