The Research Paper Topic
Read Chapter 11 in the textbook & review the file named the The Seven Deadly Sins of PowerPoint that you can find linked above and in the Supplemental Materials++ tab on the left navigation pane. Create a PowerPoint presentation on the subject of your Research Paper. The presentation should include a minimum of 8 slides including an introductory and a conclusion slide. Feel free to be as creative as you like. Please include voice narration. Post to this link and to LiveText to the course area and posted to your LiveText portfolio.

After you have created your ppt presentation – to go ahead and add your lecture to it do the following:
1. click slide show
2. click “record narration”
3. click “ok” on the screen that pops up
4. It will ask if you want to begin on the “current slide” or “first slide” – (for editing you might choose current slide, but for a brand new recording select first slide)
5. The ppt session will begin playing just like it always does – and you should begin talking.
6. When you are finished it will say “the narrations have been saved for each slide. Do you want to keep the timing with it also” – this means that you can now select “view show” and not only will you hear your voice, but if you choose to keep the timing with it, you won’t even have to click to proceed to the next slide.
If you find that you need to Re-record voice narration:
1. Display the slide where you want to start to re-record the voice narration.
2. On the Slide Show menu, click Record Narration.
3. Press ESC on the slide that follows the slide at which you want to stop your recording.
For example, if you want to re-record slides 4 through 6, finish your recording on slide 6, click to move to slide 7, and then press ESC on slide 7. If you press ESC on slide 6, you will delete the recording for that slide.
In practicing this with a “dummy ppt presentation” I learned that you must hit escape as soon as you click to proceed, otherwise it cuts into the next slides narration. When you record your narration with the slides, a good practice would be to allow a few seconds at the beginning of the slide before you begin talking and again at the end of the slide before you proceed. This way, you won’t cut into your recording if you ever need to edit it.
I recommend that you create a “pretend” presentation with 4 or 5 slides to practice this technique before attempting this for a real presentation. I would also recommend that you save your ppt presentation as two files – one with a regular title and the other with a title that depicts that it has audio. This way, just in case you really mess something up, you always have the default ppt session saved.
