Existing Situation:
G&C’s Market has hired LARS Consulting Group to perform a complete
analysis on the business. The business analyst team has been hired to
identify the problems and associated business requirements.
In order to continue the successful expansion of G&C Market, they need to
continue offering high quality goods at a fair price. However, in recent
years, there has been a notable decrease in employee satisfaction as well
as increased security concerns including vandalism, armed robbery, and
theft as a result of employee corruption which has led to in a decrease in
profits for the company. If we do not address the current problems faced
by G&C Market, then company profits will continue to plummet and the
company will lose their customers to the competition as well as investors.
The management goal is to improve the morale of the employees, as these
are difficult jobs to fill. Disciplinary action does not seem to improve the
situation. The process today must follow the union agreement of:
– verbal warning
– written warning
– suspension/dismissal
Part of the absence problem is the pay schedule as early analysis has
indicated a higher absenteeism on the Fridays after payday. Pay cheques
are distributed and on the Thursday to allow employees the full banking
day to cash their cheques. This process of handing out the cheques
cannot be changed, as this was a negotiated item in the union agreement.
There are opportunities for education and advancement within the
company, but not well communicated.

 Increase security measures by 15%
These goals are to be met by 3rd Q 2021.

The team has identified the following list of problems:
 Employees have become increasingly dissatisfied with lack of
advancement within the company
 Employee absenteeism has risen to over 35%
 Employee turnover rate has risen to 9%
 Corruption amongst the staff leading to theft and embezzlement
 Lack of technology/tools to support our security staff
 Increase in shoplifting incidents at some stores
 Increased maintenance costs associated with acts of vandalism,
graffiti and other property damage
 Increased incidents of break-ins and armed robberies at ‘high-risk’
stores
 Lack of training for the employees
 Unable to fund further expansion due to decrease in profits
