The purpose of this paper is to learn how to collect information for career assessment interview. Also, interpreting career assessment result and present the findings with the volunteer. I interviewed Nism and for the inventory analysis I will 16 personalities test, MAAP and the Holland code test. The theory I will use for this interview is Holland theory.
Career interview
Nism is a an international student and she is my neighbor. I went to her house and asked her if she would be interested in volunteering and I explanined the purpose of the assignment. The firt, time I met with her was on 09/20/21 she signed the consent form and I explained all the details and informed her about her rights. Then I gathered biopsychosocial information and administered three career assessments which is Holand code test, 16 personalities test and MAAP. The in our second meeting we met 11/06/21 at a public library. we went over her results and discussed possible career recommendation.
Demographic information
Nism is 23 years old female from Malysia. She is single and she works at the university as lab assistant. Nism has a degree in biology, and she identify her race as biracial her mom is from Malaysia and her father from Chad. She is born and raised in Malaysia.
Presenting Issue
Nism is seeking help for career counsleing because she is having trouble choosing a career of her interest and trouble deciding to go to graduate school for Dentistry. She is having trouble deciding because her parents wants her to be a doctor and she doesn’t feel medical filed is the right fit her. She is worried her parents will get mad if pursed a different career. Nism stated she is interested in law school and she feel that would be the right career for her.
Current status
Nism during the interview she appeared to be confident and answering all the questions with excitement.
Family information
Nism parents has been married for 27 years. Her father is a college professor he teaches chemistry and mother chemical engineering. She has one brother 20 years old and he is in college majored in industrial engineering.
Informal Inventories
The three informal inventories I used was MAAP, 16 personalities and Holland code test. I chose MAAP because it focusses on finding career that fits individual interest and its useful for someone that considering career change. The 16 personalities assessment would be useful in helping individuals know their personality and studies shown that when people choose a career based on their personality are more likely to succeed in their career and career satisfaction (Semeijn, J. H., Heijden, B. I. J. M., & Beuckelaer. (2018). The Holand code I thought is important because it focus on personality and environment. Holland emphasizes that people who choose to work in an environment similar to their personality type are more likely to be successful and satisfied ((Gysbers, Heppner, and Johnston, 2014).
Results of Informal Inventories
To be honest I was nervous about going over the assessment result because I was worried not interpreting the results correctly. I found out the results is simple to explain and broken to different categories that was useful. In the assessment result I found the 16 personalities interesting because it does not only focus on career and interest but, it allows the individual to explore their weaknesses and strength, romantic relationship, friendship, parenthood and workplace habit.
Nism was worried that her parents would get upset with her if didn’t attend dental school. My recommendation for the volunteer was to have open honest conversation with her parents and explain to them why doesn’t want purse a career in the medical filed. I suggested to her to tell them what she likes and share her career assessment results with her parents.
Reaction the volunteer
Nism was excited about the results, and she agreed with the assessment result. She said the results help to gain a better understanding of interests and career options. Nism stated the results was helpful because it showed the list of career that matches her personality.
Theory application.
Theory Application
Holland’s theory focuses three characteristics that lead to indecision, dissatisfying decisions, lack of accomplishment, satisfying career decisions, involvement, and achievement (Gysbers, Heppner, and Johnston, 2014). Holland says there are six personality types which are Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional (Gysbers, Heppner, and Johnston, 2014). I would use this theory during the interview and focus on the six categories. I think if this was real client I would have focused on decision making and Nism is from collectivistic culture is not easy for her to go against her family values. I would talked to her about how she feels about telling her parents not wanting to attend dental and help prepare to discuss her plan with her family.
Conclusion
This assignment allowed me to explore different type of career assessment. I learned how to ask the right to obtain accurate information and how to interpret results. I was worried about going over the results with the client because I thought the client might my point when I share the results. I think I still need to work on training on the interviewing process and be more professional.

MAAP Assessement
Nism is conscious of existence, meaning, purpose, potential and destiny of humankind,
