In EE4, you applied a Kantian test to a case: the Choices Test. This week you will learn how to apply another version of a Kantian test: the Everybody Test. As you study and apply this test, think about what is Kantian about it and how it relates to the Choices Test. Is some common value being promoted in both? How do they relate to what you learned from the Kantian notes at beginning of this exercise?
You will read through the Everybody test and two models of it being applied to different cases before you do your own analysis of the case below.

Review:
The Potent Placebo
1. Apply the Everybody Test to the Potent Placebo case. Does filing such orders pass the test? Break up your analysis into paragraphs. Each paragraph should begin with you stating the step you are applying, e.g. Step 3.

2. Come up with an objection to (or criticism of) either the conclusion you came to above or some part of the reasoning that lead to that conclusion. Ground your objection in one of the other ethical views we have studied so far: Utilitarianism, Care Ethics or Virtue Ethics. In other words, think about how someone who supports one of the other ethical views might reason through the case. Which considerations or values would they regard as most important? How might it lead them to a different conclusion? If it leads to them to the same conclusion, what reasons would they give? Note that the assumption here is that they would differ from the Kantian ones.
