Introduction

Provide concise background information on the organization and the problem.

UT MD Anderson Cancer Center is an outpatient facility that serves the local and surrounding communities of The Woodlands. The vast majority of the population are 18 and older except for laboratory services; they can see 12 and older. The department referenced is radiation therapy, where only adults are treated. This department has implemented the one-RO approach, which means one rad onc. The intention is that all locations be open to all patients for convenience of treatment regardless of the treating physician is at the chosen location. To further explain, the patient’s primary team is located at the main campus. Still, to the patient’s convenience, they can receive radiation treatment at any location they choose. In contrast, the intention may seem appropriate to increase patient satisfaction and experience; the lack of adequate follow-up and education provided to the patient when they transfer to a different location negatively impacts the patient’s outcome.

Project
Describe the project.

This project will identify weak areas in the current process and implement new guidelines to improve patient education and appropriate follow-up from the primary team when transferring a patient to a different location. These implementations will target specifically the radiation department within the facility and use collected data for comparison. The AIM statement: Reduce the occurrence of patients who lack appropriate education for care during radiation treatment by 50% and increase primary teams involvement by 25% within 6 months.

Stakeholders

Provide an introduction noting the stakeholders you identified in your brainstorming (list them) and briefly note the priority of the stakeholders.
Stakeholder 1
Using the questions in steps 2-6 as a guide (included in lecture slides), describe each stakeholder in detail.

The quality safety officer is one of our radiation oncologists who is heavily involved with reviewing and improving the current policies. The QSO also reviews all safety reports submitted by staff and collaboratively works with others to find solutions. Being chair of safety and high in power and influence, she will be a strong link in decision making and support of change among the department. The QI project is viewed as very favorable; thus, weekly progress reports will help maintain engagement and full support.

Stakeholder 2 etc. Repeat for each stakeholder.
Using the questions in steps 2-6 as a guide (included in lecture slides), describe each stakeholder in detail.

Stakeholder Management

Provide an introduction/overview of the Stakeholder Management Plan.

Stakeholder Prioritization
Based on your identification and analysis of the project stakeholders, discuss the priority of the stakeholders with information on the reason for their priority status. Who is most/least important to the success of your project? Why? Include a completed Power/Influence and Interest Grid.
