The primary case you will analyze in Part I of the midterm exam concerns cheerleaders who want to display banners for football players to run through at the start of the football games. The banners have Bible verses written on them. The school banned the banners on the grounds that the message on the banner was a violation of the Establishment Clause. Upon appeal, a judge ruled in favor of the cheerleaders. The case is being appealed to a higher court and rests there at this time.
