Strength and Conditioning – Assessment 2 (1000 words).
As a strength and conditioning practitioner, you will be expected to coach athletes from all
backgrounds many gym based strength training exercises to enhance physical development and
support sporting performance.
This task requires you to provide an overview of how you would coach ONE of the following
exercises to a novice athlete with no resistance training history. You should show knowledge and
understanding of the physiological and biomechanical demands of a sport of your choice that guide
S&C needs.
EXERCISE OPTIONS:
Back Squat
Hip Thrust
Deadlift
Supported by the relevant evidence you will be expected to cover the key coaching points, the use of
coaching cues, common faults associated with the exercise and any corrective methods/techniques
you would apply to correct the faults in the execution of the exercise.
Also, you will need to present 2 appropriate progressions of the exercise and provide a brief
rationale as to why you have selected this exercise for the athlete, the benefits and impact on
performance of this exercise.
