Toxicology Occupational Health and Hygiene Assignment Brief
You are the H&S manager for a large international manufacturing company that makes
earth moving machines. You are based in the UK. The UK base is responsible for all
international sales and the international sales team has to visit clients to ensure the
equipment being ordered is correct. The sales team also has to spend time in the design
rooms with design engineers and make regular visits to the factory floor where equipment is
made. This is to ensure production is made to time and plan as well as checking on progress.
A member of the international sales team has indicated he is nearly ready to resume work
after illness. He was diagnosed with Bradycardia and has subsequently had a pacemaker
fitted. He also has to drive as part of his role.
The HR department has asked you for your advice and opinion on preparing to get this
member of staff back to work. You need to produce a report giving brief details of your
understanding of the condition Bradycardia. You must also produce advice on what the
company must do to ensure the member of staff can return to work safely and remain legal
whilst undertaking his role, explaining your rationale. You should also explain what the
company must agree to give as information to the member of staff, about returning and
undertaking his sales role.
