Product Proposal
Propose your team’s product choice as if to a CMO, CEO, or supervisor using a style appropriate for
business and organizational settings.
What are we submitting?
Each group is to draft a 1-2 page write up that announces their selected product as if to a CEO, CMO, or
supervisor. It should follow a business format and include an introduction, your body paragraph(s), and
a conclusion. It need not strictly adhere to being one page or less as you would do an official memo
(which is meant to be short).
What goes in this announcement?
Your proposal is both an informative document and a persuasive document. In it, you should address
who you are and what is the current situation. This should lead to an explanation of what the current
“gap” is, whether in our strategy, a market need, etc. Then, you can describe how your proposed
offering may capitalize said opportunity (or negate said threat). The proposed offering need not be the
exact specific product and mix. Rather, the focus should be on the market or strategic gap to be
addressed and the likely value your product will deliver or consumer needs you will address.
I realize your product may undergo some changes as you develop your strategy over the semester. This
is fine. The idea is for you and your teammates to start developing your idea now and practice
communicating your ideas throughout the strategic process.
