Interview Questions

The final project is a small-scale research project. You will interview 2-3
individuals in leadership roles within any organization. They can be small
businesses, corporations, non-profits, churches, etc. Your goal is to identify
deficiencies in the leadership capacity within the organization. You will present
the findings in a PowerPoint format with the required headings listed below. As
you prepare your PowerPoint think of yourself as a management consultant
presenting the results of your research to the attendees at a leadership
conference. You can identify the company as ABC Company and you can also
rename the individuals you interview to protect their identity as well.
Please consider the following as you begin the Final Project:

 Think of your interview as an information gathering session. Allow
the person you are interviewing to speak freely regarding any
leadership deficiency within their organization. Ask open-ended
questions which will allow you to gather more information. If you
ask questions that generate specific yes/no responses the
interviewee will tend to simply answer your questions and you will
not have enough content to complete this assignment.
 As you begin to prepare your research questions think of the
following. What is it that you are trying to find out from your
interviews? When you begin to write your interview questions try to
ask questions in the interview that will give you answers to who,
what, when, where, and how. These are simply ideas please use
your imagination in asking the best questions that will generate the
best responses.
 Determine what you could potentially include in your
recommendations that will allow your solution/summary to produce
optimal results.
 In this project demonstrate your competence in leadership
knowledge and skills. Search and evaluate primary and secondary
information sources in communicating your recommendations and
solution/summary for your research project.
 Consider covering the following areas in your final project as well:
Define the organizational structure of the various organizations, the
level of communication in the various work environments, as well
as team focused attitude, problem solving capabilities, time
management and ethical behavior.

 Consider how you will integrate theory and practice or how you
could potentially incorporate a SWOT Analysis in your material.
Please include the following section headings in your Final Project
(PowerPoint):
Industry Overview/Company History
For each organization that you interview please include an industry overview and
company history/background (2-3 interviews).
Issues
Describe the issues. In this section you will (identify the problem(s) – What are
the leadership issues within the organizations? What changes need to be made?
Stay focused on leadership issues.
Alternatives
The alternatives are simply a list of option that could potentially solve the
problem. The alternatives are not the recommendations. You will choose one or
two of the alternative in your recommendation section. The alternative should
answer – Why do these changes need to be made?
If specific issues or problems were discussed – What could a company or
organization do to fix the problem?
Implementation/Recommendation
Choose one or two alternatives listed above and use them to make your
recommendation. How will the company implement these changes?
Solution/Summary
After the company implements these changes what will be the end result?
