Profile of an Entrepreneur

Short Assignment # 1: Profile of an Entrepreneur
Each student is required to submit a report on an international
entrepreneur. Your report should be in PowerPoint format and
should include the following:
 Title Page ; Title of your report, complete reference citation or
link; be sure to include author, date, etc.; your name.
 Abstract; one slide that summarizes the “idea of your
presentation in brief” (less than 200 words)
 Presentation; 7-8 slides that provide more information on the
story of the entrepreneur. For example, what business did the
entrepreneur start? Why? What is international or global about
the entrepreneur’s business? What’s unique about the
entrepreneur’s story? What challenges did the entrepreneur
face? How did he deal with these challenges? Why did
he succeed? What is unique about the entrepreneur’s style?
What are his values? What future challenges face the
entrepreneur and his business?
 If video links are available, please provide them in your
presentation.
In choosing an international entrepreneur to report on, I suggest you
follow these selection criteria:
 Avoid the obvious choices (e.g., Steve Jobs of Apple; Larry
Paige of Google, Steve Case of AOL, Howard Schultz of
Starbucks, Jack Ma of Alibaba, etc).
 The entrepreneur need not be the original founder; he could
be a corporate entrepreneur (an intrapreneur) who helped grow
the business.
 The entrepreneur and featured company should have an
international business aspect/component (i.e..Do not report on a
successful entrepreneur whose venture has no international–
current or future–dimension.)
I will apply the following criteria in evaluating your presentation:

 Does the presentation have international content?
 How interesting is the entrepreneur and his/her story?
 Quality of presentation (Did the student follow the guidelines?)
 Quality of abstract? Quality of powerpoint? Is it easy to read and
understand? Did the student address the questions in the
presentation guidelines?)
 Did the student provide complete citations used for the project?
 Applicable Textlinks? Videolinks?
