Debate the Takeaways from the Assigned Educause Article

Despite a slight dip in 2016, investment in Education Technology remains quite strong
(see articles from  Edsurge on US investments  and  Forbes on Global investments ).
Edsurge also article states: "Commitments to “impact” or “mission” aside, all
investors—even in education—want to see returns. Often that means converting users
into dollars."
What does it mean to convert users into dollars? The assigned  Educause article  asks us to
look critically at the reasons for the rise in Educational Technology? Is it all positive (e.g.
to improve learning, teaching and access to learning) or are there shifts and forces we
need to be particularly aware of?
Argue for or against one or more of these takeaways from the  Educause

The takeaways from the  Educause article  :
1. The rise of educational technology is part of a larger shift in political thought,
from favoring government oversight to asserting free-market principles, as well
as a response to the increasing costs of higher education
2. The technocentric view that technology can solve these challenges combines
with a vision of education as a product that can be packaged, automated, and
delivered to students.
3. Unless greater collaborative efforts take place between edtech developers and the
greater academic community, as well as more informed deep understandings of
how learning and teaching actually occur, any efforts to make edtech education's
silver bullet are doomed to fail.
