Corporate Social Responsibility:

Question 1:
CSR is in-deed a good practice for corporations, from the benefits that it offers to all
involved. This is to include the employees, customers and the company itself. CSR ensures a
better and talented workforce, which are motivated to not only meet the company’s goals but
also to impact the surrounding community. By conducting CSR initiatives, customer attitude and
loyalty to a company’s products is improved. The company interests are also enhanced, by
cutting costs (from more efficient hiring and retention of staff, better handling of potential
liabilities and risks and reduced expenditure in advertising), providing opportunities for positive
publicity through various media and enhancing access to new business opportunities. These
advantages surely position the company at a point of enjoying better success as well as
contributing to the welfare of the community, for mutual benefit.
Question 2:
Yes, I am more likely to seek out products of companies that conduct good CSR as
opposed to those that do not. Research has shown that the social stand that a company enjoys
significantly affects the consumers’ habits more and above the high quality of products and
services offered. With companies identifying a CSR initiative that they stand for, will motivate
the consumers to purchase that product having in mind they are similarly contributing to the
company’s CSR venture. Majority of the consumers are of the notion that corporates and
businesses today are expected to be the key drivers of environmental and social change, and so
products of companies practicing good CSR remain appealing to a majority of the consumers, I
included.

Question 3:
Yes, the company’s CSR practices would highly influence my decision to joining their
workforce. The CSR initiatives that the company would engage in would positively impact its
employees and the customers, with promising long term impacts on the company. The
employees are motivated to be more productive as they can appreciate that their efforts serve a
greater purpose than self or the company’s interests. They can also proudly associate themselves
with the company, from the positive initiatives it has had on the surrounding community and
environment. Human resource based CSR ensure that their wellbeing is well looked into. Also
from the enhanced interactions between the entities within and those outside the company, the
company is able to tap into new opportunities that come up as well as contribute to the
sustainability of both the company and the surrounding community, which are the long term
effects of CSR. Therefore the fulfilling work environment and the promising future would make
securing employment at the company an attractive option.
