Compose a poem
Poem: 14-25 lines – Typed and Printed (formatting of your choice)
For this part of the assignment you will compose a poem that focuses on some aspect of yourself. This
can be a largely impactful part of who you are, something you believe in, how you identify yourself, or
even a less life altering memory of somewhere you’ve been, something you’ve experienced, somewhere
you’d like to be, or perhaps who you would like to be. As long as it’s important to YOU then it counts.
This poem is a piece of creative writing that is considered an artistic expression. That means it DOES
need to be artistic- play with words, imagery, metaphor, space, phrases, concepts, the five senses…If
you’d like to research different types of poems and follow traditional rules for that style you can or if
you’d rather just create something brand new you’re welcome to do that too.

Your poem can rhyme but it doesn’t have to
No singularly acrostic poems
No Haiku UNLESS you do a themed collection (Haiku a collection of 5)
No Limericks UNLESS you do a themed collection (Limerick a collection of 3)
