Tell us why you chose to study Leadership and why you chose the University of Charleston’s Master of Science in Strategic Leadership as the program through which you would pursue that study. Reflect on your ideas from that time and reflect on both the content and the process of the program. In discussing content, refer to those authors and reference that were most significant in influencing your current knowledge and actions. In discussing process, refer to the facilitation and cohort processes that significantly influenced the quality of your experience and the knowledge and skills gained from the program. Include specific stories or examples of how your knowledge and actions have changed as a result of the program. Synthesize your reflections in a 5-page paper I chose to highlight three programs that stood out to me. They are listed below with a brief overview of the programs. I also downloaded pages from the books that really caught my attention. They are attached. Reframing- GSL 507- Download Bolaman and Deal This course is the genesis of a process of reframing our leadership model into one that incorporates the context of organizations in its broadest possible conception. Leadership, strategic or otherwise, exists because of organized activity. “The proliferation of complex organizations has made almost every human activity a collective one. We are born, raised, and educated in organizations. We work in them and rely on them for goods and services. We learn in schools and universities. We play sports in teams. We join clubs and associations. Many of us will grow old and die in hospitals or nursing homes. We build organizations because of what they can do for us. They produce consumer goods, bring entertainment into our homes, provide education and health care, and deliver the mail (Bolman & Deal, 1997, p. 7). It is imperative that leaders understand the importance of reframing their view of leadership and the organizational activities which necessitate them. Leading Across Boundaries- GSL 615 download Linden: This course explores how to create sustainable collaborative cultures in an organization to develop successful and long-lasting relationships. The course examines interpersonal and organizational forces that can inhibit collaboration and strategies to overcome those challenges. Throughout the course, the opportunity to explore topics such as ethics, complexity, design thinking and social responsibility are presented within the scope of leading across boundaries. Sustainable Human Capital- GSL 506- Download elephant in the room: This course is an in-depth study of the critical components of the strategic leadership of human capital. Essential to this concept is to identify and implement organizational practices and designs that are beneficial to both individuals and organizations in a way that actually produces long-term payoffs for organizations and the peopagnle who work in them.
