produce an individual report

This coursework consists of two elements, Part A and Part B

You are to produce an individual report that includes and demonstrates your application of knowledge to the following:

  1. Pre-construction tasks that are performed by a Contractor’s Commercial Manager. For this, you are to explain the tasks and processes that a Commercial Manager faces when a Construction Project is won. You are to list out the key tasks and explain briefly each one, two of them in detail. You should use the information on Blackboard in the Refer/Defer folder to demonstrate the application of your knowledge, noticeably:

  1. Tender won summary
  2. List of Commercial Management Activities

  1. Change cost control and internal and external notification.

Prepare a Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) based on the tender won summary as i) above. Demonstrate that you understand change by applying your knowledge of the change process to the following scenario:

During month 3 of the project being on site, the contractor finds an obstruction in the ground that was not within tender documents and the contractor is entitled to a variation due to this change to the scope of works.

The costs to the contractor are £4,582 from the groundwork subcontractor to remove and cart away the obstruction.

Prepare a CVR that demonstrates this variation and prepare an e mail to your Commercial Director notifying them of the change. (This could form one of the two key tasks that are described in detail as mentioned in 1. above.

Prepare a statement that will be communicated to the client through the next site meeting notifying them of the implications of this change and variation.

Part B (10%) – Individual Reflection. Write a reflective account of your development during the module. You should include the progress you have made on the role of the quantity surveyor and commercial manager and the skills that you have developed.

The total length of your report should be no more than 2000 words. There is no word count tolerance.
