Consider this week’s themes: ‘feminism, ‘Blackness’, and ‘Indigeneity.’ How do the author’s from this week’s readings think about gender, and race? What is race and how does race enter their theoretical frameworks?

Now, refer to the reading “Native Solidarity with Black Lives Matter …” and discuss why the fight against police violence is an issue that indigenous communities are fighting against? More importantly, how do they center Afro-Indigenous folks in their efforts?

Question: What is racism? What is the difference between racism and anti-blackness? (According to what you know? How does racism (specifically anti-Blackness) affect the language we use to describe Black people and dark-skinned people? – – Why do we think it is better to be light-skinned than dark-skinned? How can history help us
understand how Black people exist in places throughout the word – in this case, Mexico?

questions: Now that you know how Black people ended up in Mexico, how would you describe

question: what it means to be Mexican? Think about other geographies beyond Mexico and the difference between race/ethnicity.

– Think of a personal story or experience with racism. When was the first time you saw someone being anti-Black or making fun of someone who is dark-skinned? How did you feel? How did the person experiencing racism feel?

– What is the relationship between gendered oppression, anti-blackness and other forms of racism? *Hint – why do you think we are starting with this history?

1. Did I briefly summarize or refer to the majority of the readings? (maximum 1 paragraph)

2. Did I discuss most of the additional content? (videos, art, etc.)

3. Did I include questions about the readings/content? (I do not expect everyone to fully comprehend the readings–this is impossible. Make sure to include questions about terms, why the author is arguing what they are arguing, things you are confused about/need clarification on, etc.)

4. Did I follow proper essay format (intro, body, conclusion)? This does not mean you should have three big paragraphs, instead, you should follow an essay format that is clear, concise, and organized

5. Did I cite my sources using Chicago or MLA format? (Refer to this manual –> Link)
