Pick a company related to your major – Must be a company you can find financials for. That usually means a public company. You can find public companies on finance.yahoo.com

* Executive summary – What is the company name and how do they make money?

* Pick one kind of intellectual property the company owns and that is in your opinion the most important – What is it? Why is it important? What kind of IP is it?
* How is this type of IP defined? What is “the legal standard” for a violation of this type of IP?
* Give an example of one time some other company infringed on this IP.
* What did the company do to stop the infringement and protect their IP? (Explain why this example of infringement violated the ”legal standard” involved in this particular type of IP)

* Find as much financial information as you can for your company (finance.yahoo.com)
* Create a financial model for the LAST 3 years and the NEXT 3 years – Show spreadsheets and graphs for expense, revenue, total net earnings, and anything else you think is relevant for your company.
* Use your financial model to identify either a problem or a potential opportunity – Discuss what options are available for dealing with each, which option you would choose, and why. (Write a paragraph on the written document, not on the spreadsheet)

* Bonus question – 4 extra points
– Show another financial projection for the next 3 years that demonstrates the change you made to the company (the «new projection »)
– Show spreadsheet and graphs that compare the original projections against the new projections – In every case show the last 3 years and the next 3 years

There is no min/max length requirement.
Keep everything clear and to the point (this will be part of the grade). Think of this as a report for a key persona in the company (Investor, executive, board member)
