Give a Title related to Strategic Foresight in Relation to the Specific Organization

Strategic Foresight Workshop
Introduction: The major project for this course brings everything together by putting you in the role of presenter. Students often remark on how they benefit from this workshop because it helps them realize how much they’ve learned about Strategic Foresight. The participant activity is often very fun and many students secure new work engagements from the workshop.
You will develop and deliver a live 90-minute workshop for a group of 5 to 10 participants teaching them one Strategic Foresight tool [the Futures Wheel] to illuminate the future of an issue.

Research: Drawing from the course resources and 7 to 10 outside resources, you will prepare two documents for the Major project:
1) a competed PowerPoint (PPT) using the below directions; and
2) an After Action Report with at least 5 completed participant evaluation forms and pictures from the workshop to show evidence of your workshop inserted in the Appendix of the report.

Directions
Prepare a PPT presentation for a client organization or group of at least 5 participants designed to teach one Strategic Foresight tool. With the emphasis of the workshop focused on the participant activity, the workshop should be divided into three sections designed to
1) provide an introduction to Strategic Foresight,
2) teach one Strategic Foresight tool through an interactive Foresight activity, and
3) deepen the learning process through a robust debriefing process. Two deliverables are required for this project: a PPT presentation using the following criteria, and a completed After Action report using the required template [see below].

PowerPoint (PPT) Presentation:

Section 1
Introduction [5 to 10 slides]
Prepare a 20 to 30 slide PPT presentation for a group of at least 5 participants
Introduce Strategic Foresight and describe how it brings value to traditional planning
You may include up to 5 slides from your Minor 1 project for the Introduction section [the remaining slides must be original to this project]
Use 1 futures-related ice-breaker [1-3 minute video clip or very short exercise]
Describe the ways in which Strategic Foresight provides important information that may often be overlooked and missed
Include 1 Foresight-related [1-3 minute] media clip to deepen understanding
Section 2
Foresight Activity [5 to 10 slides]
You will teach only one Foresight tool [the Futures Wheel] for this project
Introduce the Futures Wheel and explain how it is used, the value it brings, and why you selected it for the workshop
Provide an example of the type of work that is often produced using the Futures Wheel
Include one Futures Wheel Instructional slide so participants are clear on what they will be doing during the activity
Divide the group into teams of 5 and have participants move into their respective groups [if applicable]
Conduct a 20 to 30 minute participant activity using the Futures Wheel activity
Also use the STEEPLE Chart to guide the activity
Keep the Instructional slide up during the activity
Be very clear on the goal and outcomes for the activity
Do not use any scenario planning or SWOT content in this workshop

Section 3
Debrief [5 to 10 slides]
Devote ample time for participants to share the work they produced during the Futures Wheel activity
Include slides to guide the debriefing process
Distribute workshop evaluation forms [using the below template] and ask participants to complete it prior to leaving the workshop
Be sure to take pictures of the workshop (you, the activity, the activity work produced) to include in the After Action Report [to show evidence of the workshop]
After Action Report (AAR):
Complete each section of the AAR template [do not remove sections]
Address each section of the AAR to a superior who did not attend the workshop and provide adequate details so they have a full understanding of what took place in each phase of the workshop
Scan and insert the participants completed evaluation forms in the AAR Appendix
Complete the participant evaluation summary section within the AAR
Include a picture of the workshop to show evidence of the workshop
Write two to four paragraphs to the professor providing a synopsis on your personal experience as a workshop facilitator by describing what worked well and what you will do different the next time you make a similar presentation.
Appendices, such as invitation email/web brochure, participant handouts, optional pre-reading, evaluation form, digital pictures of participants or best participant worksheets, your follow-up thank you email to participants, etc.
Remove all instructional content from the AAR template prior to submission for grading
Resources: Review the Period 3 Overview recording for important details on this project. Additional resources may be posted in the Bb Announcements.
