Practice Activities
As a class:
(1) Your instructor or a small group of students may choose to label all the major organs on the torso models with
numbers and ask you to identify each major organ as individual students or in groups.
(2) Your instructor or a small group of students may use tape to indicate the four abdominopelvic quadrants or
the nine abdominopelvic regions on the large torso models to help you identify where each organ belongs.
(3) Your instructor or a small group of students may describe an activity using terms learned in today’s lesson
and ask you to identify the activity. For instance, if I move my frontal regions superior and inferior, I am
____________________ (saying yes, moving head up and down).
(4) Your instructor or a small group of students may take out models that have been cut using different planes
and ask you to identify the different planes.
As you’re studying outside of class:
(1) The Individualized Learning Center (ILC) has most of the models we use in class AND biology tutors who are
skilled to help you! Make an appointment today! Don’t forget your WTCC ID.
(2) The STEM center in the AHB building is manned by real life Anatomy Instructors who know exactly what you
are being asked to learn! Look for the schedule and make time to visit. Don’t forget your WTCC ID.
(3) Teaching a classmate is the very best way to study. If you can teach someone and answer questions without
using your notes and textbook, you’re likely ready for an exam!
(4) Google is your best friend for labeling activities! Go to google.com. In the search bar, enter “blank diagram for
_______”. Insert whatever topic you want to have extra practice with. Bring to the STEM center and you can
get your answers checked.
(5) Involve your kids/partner/friends/parents. You can point to areas of your body and entertain young kids. Have
them point to areas of their body and you name the closest part. Give them your lists and you point as fast as
you can!
(6) Buy sheet protectors and dry erase markers. Use these to create reusable “quizzes”. Place a picture inside
the sheet protect and label over and over again until you can label in your sleep.
**Remember you will not be given a word bank for your quizzes or lab
practicals. Therefore it is unwise to study with a word bank. *
