Review the APA Resources on the IWU Resources page for information on how to cite sources and format citations and references properly.
Consider the different definitions of “public administration” presented in the textbook. These definitions are categorized under the political, legal, managerial, and occupational headings in Chapter 1. Select one that stands out to you as being the easiest to defend.
Search the Internet for a real-world public sector (government) example that illustrates this perspective. NOTE: Private sector and non-profit examples will not fulfill this requirement.
Compose a paper of 500 to 1000 words that defends that one definition. Be sure to include the following elements in your paper:
Title page with your name and required elements for title pages per APA.
Subheadings to identify each section of your paper:
Introduction: Paragraph that introduces the content of the paper 9 (APA does not require the introduction page to have a subheading)
Summary of Definition: Summarize the definition of public administration you have chosen from the textbook. Be sure to include direct quotes from the textbook and properly cite them per APA.
Real-World Example: Provide a brief summary of a public sector (government) example from the headlines (or a current event) that supports this perspective. Discuss it objectively. (In other words, do not include your personal opinions. You may need to scan government websites, past issues of newspapers, or press releases to jog your thoughts for an appropriate example.) Be sure to cite all the sources you used to discuss the details of the story. You should not write the story relying on your memory only. Cite your sources using correct APA style.

Citations: Be sure to use multiple in-text citations (using correct APA style) from your textbook and outside readings to support your analysis.
