Hierarchical Models
I would like you to diagram a Hierarchical Data Model. You will
create a diagram in Gliffy of the hierarchical model that using a fictitious product line. For example a
supplier may have 3 product lines: soap, shampoo, and toothpaste. The toothpaste product line has two
categories: whitening and cavity-fighting. The whitening may have three specific products and so
on. Make up your own product line—it can be anything! You can use this as an example to create your model, or see example below. Pease GOOGLE
images for Data Models or Hierarchical Models—this will also give you a good idea what I am looking
for.
On your Gliffy design please give me a one paragraph explanation (using the textbox feature) of the
model you chose how you designed the diagram based on your findings. Compare your model to
other models and tell me the advantages/disadvantages of using each model. For example, why
would or wouldn’t a network or relational model work for your product.
