-Answers should define and describe the key concept of ‘institutions’ and locate it in the Varieties of Capitalism and National Business Systems literature. Examples of the institutions that characterise the main models of capitalism should be provided.
-The concept of ‘institutional complementarities’, that is the interlocking and self-reinforcing nature of institutions, should be explained using the education and training systems of market economies such as the USA, UK, France and Germany.
-Better answers will adopt a more critical approach, discussing the forces of change in the context of globalisation, and their effects in terms of convergence on (or divergence from) one ‘best practice’ model of education and training.
-You must follow the appropriate academic writing conventions, including clear and analytical language. This is rarely achieved by borrowing directly from sources. Your original voice must be heard.
