As discussed, we have a coursework submission which I require from you by 7th of January 2021.
The topic is – Strategic Management of Nestle Inc
The maximum word count is 2500 (plus 10% is acceptable). The word count calculation excludes Index, Diagrams, Calculations, Charts, and Tables, appendices, bibliography and References. However the report should include all these also, where the Index is expected to be very detailed at least 2 pages. The references should be Harvard style covering in 2 or 3 pages using http://www.citethemrightonline.com. The font should be in Arial or Calibri with font size 12, minimum left and right margins of 2.5cm (1 inch) line spacing 1.5. Report should be formal report format with numbered pages, sections and sub headings. All charts, tables and graphs should be properly labelled.
The executive summary should outline key findings recommendations and the rationale behind them. The word limit is 300 words – it does not count against the word limit for the assignment
Company background – a simple, descriptive summary along with a brief summary of recent results – milestones normally in the form of table or timeline.
After this – we should showcase the lifecycle of the company – in a graph format as well as descriptions explaining the graph.
Following the lifecycle – we require the detailed aspect of “what is the position of Nestle today (market value graphs, market share, revenue – figures and numbers – Return on Investments, Return on Assets, Profits (gross / net)
We require major brands falling under the umbrella of Nestle to showcase the size of the company.
Innovation Strategy with example – Identify with examples the form of innovation the company is pursuing. Analyze with example the firm’s culture and management systems. Appraised the extent to which this innovation strategy is suitable for the environment.
Macro perspective – PESTEL analysis, SWOT analysis (clearly classifying the internal and external factors) – in table or graphical format
Identification of Strategic issues with examples and recommendations.
Internal View – Capabilities that meet the VRIN criteria and might form the basis of future strategic development, in new or existing business. VRIN analysis to be in tabular format. The internal view should also include the Value Chain Analysis (graph format with explanation)
Industry analysis – Porters five forces to be very detailed.
Competitor analysis with summarized figures and revenues showing the comparison and table for STRATEGIC GROUPS with a brief description. Identify key points showing the competitive success of Nestle.
Strategic proposals – should develop a set of proposals that clearly address the key strategic issues the company is facing. You should also mention the alternative strategic options that you have not decided to adopt and show why you have rejected them. You are strongly advised to use SAFe or similar framework to structure your evaluation of options and show why your chosen proposals are the best available.
You should also share light on “Risks and Tradeoffs” along with ANSOFF matrix. Some light to be thrown on customers groups under each brand. Major income generating brand and its strategy.
Make sure your coursework has a logical / methodical structure. Generally follow ‘one paragraph one theme’ and ‘one sentence one subject/ topic’ rules. A paragraph in a report is typically no more than 5 or 6 lines long. Longer paragraphs obscure the meaning and will lose marks.
Remember this is a report- not an essay. You earn no marks for discussing theory. You demonstrate command of the theory by using it accurately and insightfully.
English grammar and punctuation do matter.
Strategic analysis and evaluation carry 50% of the marking. – It should include both external and internal analysis of your organization.
Development of strategic options and recommendations carry 20% – recommendations should always logically flow from your analysis and evaluation.
Consideration of innovation in relation to your strategic recommendations – 20%
Consideration of any implementation issues including the implementation timeline – 10%
