Portfolio Letter

The first paragraph should demonstrate vantage point by describing your surroundings as you are writing this letter. Where are you seated? What is around you? What can you see, hear, smell, and feel? Be detailed enough so that your audience gets a clear picture of your physical location. The second paragraph should contain an anecdote about a shared memory you have with the person to whom youare addressing this letter.Remind them of the time when…Once more, be detailed in your description so that the anecdote is vivid and interesting.The third paragraph should describe a person you met during the semester. It could be another student, a roommate, a professor, a coach, your profile subject, a neighbor, etc. Be sure to tell the person to whom you are addressing this letter, in what way meeting this individual was of significance to you and under what circumstances you met. Leaving out any of these components will lose you points.The fourth paragraph needs to explain a concept you learned during the semester. It can be a lesson you were taught in one of your classes, (Dominant Impression, for instance), or one learned from talking to a fellow student, or as a result of dealing with a roommate, or any other situation in which you found yourself during the course of the semester. Make sure that both the concept and what you have learned from it are clear. For instance, the concept of patience, and what it has taught you about yourself. Or the concept of time and how to fill it when you are restricted to a smaller space than you are accustomed to. Perhaps you taught yourself to cook and discovered that you have a talent for it. Be detailed in your examples. The fifth paragraph should describe how the Corona virus and its consequences have impacted you. What was it like to not be able to attend classes in person, not to be able to leave home? In what ways did your life change and what have you learned about yourself and other people as a result of having to be socially distant?The sixth paragraph is your conclusion.Do not end the letter abruptly. Bring the writing back to where you are at the moment. What may have changed in your surroundings while you were writing the letter? Did the sun set, or the weather change? Is the dog next door still barking, your family members making dinner? What will you do next? Sign the letter in a way appropriate to the person to whom you addressed it.
