Homonationalism
The term Homonationalism is basically an association between an analysis of LGBT people and their rights. So
basically it’s a way of criticizing either gay and lesbian subjects as a whole. They may criticize their rights or judged
on the rights being implemented to the LGBT people. Homonationalism is used to vilify the “Orientalist terrorist
other” by that it’s referred to as imaginative geographies. For example, According to the article “Mapping US
Homonormativities” by Jasbir K. Puar says “It is through imaginative geographies produced by homo-nationalism,
for example, that the contradictions inherent in the idealization of the US as a properly multicultural
heteronormative but nevertheless gay-friendly, tolerant, and sexually-liberated society can remain in tension (Puar
pg.68). Which in a way we can how it still creates a image of criticism on LGBT people and their rights. So there’s
still work to be done in order to end this war on terror.
