Based upon your analysis, write a summary of the recommendations regarding the selected stock and an evaluation of the beta for your stock and other indicators. The discussion of the beta must include what happens to the risk of the portfolio when the stock is included and what happens when it is removed. Does the risk of the portfolio increase or decrease and why? Provide a rationale for your recommendations.
It is important in this course for you to understand real world scenarios that may involve evaluations necessary to make informed decisions about corporate finance. This case provides you an opportunity to think through the process, analyze a real-life situation, determine if the selected stock may or may not provide value to the portfolio, and provide a rationale for your decisions. Each evaluation conducted will increase your awareness and provide useful techniques for both personal and business decisions – this project allows you to research what will be required and how to make an informed decision.
Consider the following items when developing your framework:
a) The industry the stock is in,
b) tools used to evaluate the market,
c) a determination for your evaluation, and
d) summary: Does this stock increase or decrease risk to the portfolio.
In addition, the rationale for any decisions you make regarding the selected stock would be important to describe.
Use any type of graphic, chart, or table (no more than one graph per page with a maximum of three graphs) that you feel would be useful to help support your recommendation so that investors can understand and decide whether to retain the stock or remove it from the portfolio.
As you work on this case, you may need to make assumptions where there is insufficient information. Make sure to state your assumptions clearly up front – then you are free to build from them.
