Positive and negative effects of negative student behavior in a classroom
The centerpiece of our course is a substantive, deeply researched and carefully articulated argument paper. This project, the culmination of a month of research and development, represents the best practices for entering into public discourse and articulating a persuasive position to convince others. This project should represent the culmination of hard work in research, drafting, and revision. In this assignment we are working on the following course writing outcomes: Focus an area of interest into a researchable topic with an argumentative thesis,Quote, paraphrase, summarize, and synthesize information from source material effectively and responsibly. Organize ideas and evidence into clear, well-developed arguments for different rhetorical situations. Analyze and describe the cultural, systemic, and individual influences on diverse perspectives that inform their written, researched argumentsCreate an 8-10 page researched argument that articulates a specific and clear thesis and uses carefully selected claims and evidence to persuade its audience. At a minimum, this paper should meaningfully incorporate 10-12 scholarly (peer-reviewed) sources, but may expand on this with additional popular or professional sources. Imagining an audience of knowledgeable citizens, the project should use a mixture of rhetorical appeals (ethos, pathos, and logos) in order to persuade.
