My 4 conceptual areas that will form my literature review are: Chapter 1: Neoliberalism: Role of the State vs Role of the Individual
Chapter 2: Impact of Neoliberalism on Food Industry and Health
Chapter 3: Critical Consumption
Chapter 4: UK Food Policy Discourse
Following my literature review I need to come up with 2/3 research questions.
My theoretical framework will follow Foucault’s Theories of Power/Knowledge, Governmentally and BioPolitics
My Methodology will follow Fairclough’s (1989, 1995) model of Critical Discourse Analysis. My main textual analysis will be on the recently published UK government paper ‘The National Food Strategy Part One’, my analysis will the address Chapter on Obesity. All the data I want to be collecting is publicly available online, so there are no limitations. My data analysis needs to be carried out across 3 levels: a similar study that has taken the approach I want to take is ‘Livesey (2002) ‘The Discourse of the Middle Ground’ this explains it very clearly.
My methodology framework will follow a : subjectivist epistemology, inductive approach, exploratory Research Type, Grounded Theory, Mono-Method Qualitative Research Design and purposive sampling.
I am attaching files with the Research Plan, my university guidelines, and my initial idea developments for the literature review with some key sources which I would like to be used where possible. Not all the ideas/sources I’ve written have to be included, they are just a starting point to show you what I’ve been thinking. You can use them if you think it’s appropriate and makes sense.
I am fully on board for helping my writer as much as I can, and want to support them – I have the time to be involved in the process. I just need help as I am struggling with time and making sense of my thoughts.
