The government of Mexico has requested you as an expert on narcotrafficking prepare a proposal to combat the war on drugs

For this project, you will answer all of the questions below. Your responses should be in the form of a well-organized essay that indicate your comprehension of all assigned readings  including chapter 3 in Modern Latin America, and all materials (articles, documentaries, etc.) in our ReggieNet “Mexico” file. This information has given you insight into the impact of the war on drugs on Mexico, particularly on human rights.
The government of Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has requested that you, as an expert on narcotrafficking, to prepare a report detailing your proposals to combat the drug cartels and to improve public safety as over 120,000 people have been killed in this “War on Drugs” since 2006. This is a complex issue, deeply rooted in Mexican history, in its politics, economics, society and culture, as well as its relations with the United States and the rest of the world.
In your briefing to President López Obrador, explain these historical factors as you interpret them:
– What longstanding problems do you perceive that have contributed to the growth of narcotrafficking — how have transnational criminal organizations such as the Sinaloa Cartel, Los Zetas, and others, gained such strength, power, and wealth?
-How might they be defeated –  what programs and policies do you recommend to the president? How long might this take, and what resources do you need?
-What obstacles or problems do you foresee in obtaining those resources and defeating these criminal organizations? provision of those services?
