Along with these deeply embedded roots, many offensive labels and terms surfaced. This assignment explores some of the perceptions associated with Native Americans and how these perceptions impact the law enforcement community.

FBI Special Agent Mike Harris is investigating a murder on Navajo land in New Mexico. “The murdered man was found eight miles from the nearest paved road, not far from the landmark Shiprock formation sacred to the Navajo people. [His body was dumped a few feet further from the road and was discovered by a rancher.] The body has been identified and the death has been ruled a homicide.”

Agent Harris completed his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice last year and recently completed training from the FBI. This is his first assignment. You are a veteran agent and have been assigned to mentor him.
