Discussion Questions: What example of Progressive reform do you think had the greatest impact on American history and why? How do this reform still shape the world we live in today?
Guidelines: Your responses should be about a paragraph in length or roughly between 6 and 8 sentences. You are welcome to go over if necessary. You are welcome to go a little under if you feel like you made a good persuasive argument and have nothing else to say. In addition to contributing your main post, you should also respond to at least TWO other students’ posts. Your response posts can be shorter than your main post. However, they should also be substantive and address a student’s main arguments or ideas. In other words, don’t simply write, “Great post! I agree!” and move on. Point out the idea or issue you agree with or disagree with and explain why.
Decorum: Discussions should be fun and engaging and, most importantly, RESPECTFUL. I will monitor the responses but I will only respond if I feel like a discussion has gotten out of hand due to a mean spirited argument. I have yet to see this happen and I’m sure it won’t be an issue in our class. Disagreements are FINE but belligerent or harassing posts are completely unacceptable and will receive no points. Again, I say this so everyone is aware — not because I expect anything like this to happen.
Grading: This discussion forum is worth 50 points.
