You are required to prepare a research plan on the (2) two topics/customs procedures that you have
selected for your portfolio detailing how you will conduct the research that will be necessary to
formulate your two individual sets of practice statements/critiques. Before commencing work on the
research plan itself, you must ensure that the subject coordinator has approved your selected
topic/customs procedure. The Research Plan should include the following:
• Cover page including your name, student number, work title/contact details and a list of the (2)
two topics/customs procedures that you have selected.
• A succinct explanation of each selected customs procedure.
• Your evaluation of the importance of the selected procedure to the overall mission of your
customs service and the reasons why you think this is the case.
• Your initial view about the effectiveness and efficiency of the selected customs procedures being
practiced in your administration.
• A detailed explanation of how you will conduct the research and the gathering of information to
complete your portfolio, any difficulties that you foresee and how you will overcome those
difficulties.
• Noting that you are required to complete one set of practice statements/critiques by the end of
Week 8 and finalize your portfolio of two sets of practice statements/ critiques by the end of the
Session, a detailed schedule/timetable which sets milestones for the completion of your portfolio
work and ensures that the relevant deadlines as set out in teaching schedule above are met.
Marking criteria and standards the following criteria will be used in marking this assignment:
• Your ability to succinctly explain the selected procedure and to demonstrate an understanding of
the importance of the procedure to the strategic objectives of your customs service
• your ability to formulate an appropriate and sustainable research methodology.
• Your ability to communicate effectively in academic writing and appropriately address required
components of the assignment
·Your ability to provide due and appropriate in text and end of text referencing, where appropriate,
in accordance with the required APA (6th Ed) style Your assignment will be marked using the
marking sheet below and each aspect of the assignment be graded as either:
• Satisfactory (SY) • Unsatisfactory (US)
