Headstone, Hexam and Wrayburn is a financial services company with ten sales offices throughout the
UK. Roger Riderhood is the Director of Sales for the company and has commissioned you for data
analytic consultancy.
Roger is interested in better understanding the factors that affect sales performance. He suspects that
some centres are more challenging than others to achieve sales and as such it is difficult to identify the
good and poor performing centres. He needs a more sophisticated methods for evaluating
performance data.
He has supplied you with data on each centre. As well, he has provided data on sales performance for
the past five years. The data are described in the table below. Using only this data, he requires the
following from you.
1. Data analysis to assess the variability of performance across centres
2. Identification and assessment of location characteristics, (e.g. population, average salary) that
affect sales performance
3. Propose and evaluate a suitable performance measure that would adjust performance from
disadvantaged centres to create a fairer comparison of centre performance on which to rank
the centres.
4. Propose and evaluate a suitable approach to determining sales targets.
5. Roger is considering opening an office in Belfast. The population is 280, 211, the GVA per head
is £27, 399 and the cost of living index is 59.9. What advice can you provide him based on your
analysis?
Your task is to conduct a thorough analysis of the data presented and to write a report for Roger that
address each of the five requirements list. The report should not exceed 10 pages. The making scheme
is provided in Table 2
